Kalyn Hemphill was born in Lake Jackson, Texas. She demonstrated a love for singing, acting and dancing at a very young age and knew even as a young girl that she wanted to pursue a career in the arts. She began taking dance lessons and starring in school plays, and before long, was performing everywhere from community theatre, to the opry, to singing the national anthem at professional sporting events.
At age fourteen, Kalyn began modeling with Page Parkes Agency in Texas. Passionate and focused, she balanced a rigorous schedule throughout high school with modeling, theatre productions, drill team, and choir, and was still able to graduate early with academic honors at age seventeen. After graduation, she completed a theatre internship at Creede Repertory Theatre in Colorado, and soon moved to New York City where she walked the runway for countless designers. She went on to be the winning model for Season Six of Emmy-winning show, “Project Runway,” and the first season of its spinoff show, “Models of the Runway.”
Kalyn has modeled for top designers around the world, and has appeared in theatre productions, commercials, television and film on both coasts, where her ethnically ambiguous appearance and charisma appeal to a broad demographic. Kalyn is also an accomplished host, with multiple fashion and beauty segments under her belt, from Maybelline to Macy’s. She is honored to be Roger Sturtevant Award Winner with Actors Equity, and continues to sing for various productions, benefits and sporting events, most recently for the LA Dodgers.
Kalyn currently calls LA home, but she is always on the move. When she’s not on a set or screen, Kalyn has passion for speaking and writing, particularly to young girls navigating their way through the challenges and pressures many young women are faced with in regards to self esteem, body image and inner beauty. Kalyn is on the leadership team for Models for Christ in Los Angeles, loves volunteering with Red Eye Inc. and is passionate about raising autism awareness, as both of her brothers are on the autism spectrum. She also enjoys traveling, anything outdoors, spending time with her amazing family and friends, dinner parties, reading, and laughing until it hurts.
